Motorists traveling through Sterling Heights and residents listening at
home now can use their car and home radios for official Sterling
Heights news, activity and emergency information.
The city of
Sterling Heights launched Sterling Heights Informational Radio, WPTC
520, in October of 2001. The station’s signal at 1700 Kilohertz “AM” is
audible only within the boundary of Michigan’s fourth largest city.
The
radio station provides people in the community information to make
their lives easier. Recorded announcements of road closures, severe
weather and city news and events fill airtime 24 hours-a-day.
Residents
can tune to 1700 on the AM dial and receive emergency weather
announcements from the National Weather Service and emergency messages
from the Office of Emergency Management when emeregencies and disasters
occur.
