WANTED FOR HOMICIDE - 8/24/06
Kenyatta Khuru Davis - CAPTURED
On 9-1-06 shortly before 2130 hours Kenyatta Khuru Davis
was captured in Racine Wisconsin. Members of the U. S. Marshal’s
Service captured him hiding in the residence of an associate. The
Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team, Great Lakes Regional Task Force and
the Eastern District of Milwaukee Wisconsin, are the teams of U.S.
Marshals who have been assisting in the manhunt for Kenyatta Khuru
Davis following the 8-24-06 shooting of a 7-11 clerk in the City of
Sterling Heights. Kenyatta Davis is being held on charges of First Degree Murder, Felony
Firearm, and Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. The Sterling
Heights Police Department and Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office will
arrange for Mr. Davis’s extradition back to Michigan to face these
charges.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a black male, 25-30 years old, 6’2”, 185 lbs.,
medium build, goatee, wearing a brown shirt and pants, tan
baseball cap, diamond earring, and gold cross chain, entered the
7-Eleven store at 43129 Van Dyke. It appears that the suspect had
a brief argument with the clerk, Wajed Ali Baig, 47, of Utica.
The suspect exited the store and returned a short time later. He
approached the clerk who was standing behind the counter and produced a
blue steel revolver handgun firing multiple shots. The clerk was struck several times
and collapsed on the floor of the store. The suspect fled the
scene in a dark-colored Ford vehicle, which appears to have been
occupied by a black female passenger. Shortly after the shooting
had occurred, a patron entered the store and discovered the clerk. The
patron called 911 to report the incident. The incident was
captured by the in-store video surveillance camera. Anyone with
information related to the incident or the suspect should contact the
Sterling Heights Police Department at (586) 446-2800 or 2825.
Detective James Spence is the detective in charge of the case.
