The Sterling Heights Animal Control section regularly rescues lost or stray animals from within the city limits and houses in kennels at the Police Department. Animals are generally kept for about four days or so. If the animal is not claimed, it will be moved to a local rescue animal shelter. Animals that are found by Animal Control are never euthanized.
To receive a lost animal from the Police Station, owners must provide proof of ownership (vet records, pet license, etc.), personal identification and pay a $32 impound fee.
Below is the most up-to-date information about animals currently on Police premises. If you recognize an animal below, please contact Animal Control at (586) 446-2879.
