Board of Review

The Sterling Heights Board of Review is comprised of 6 city residents who meet for at last 3 days beginning on the 3rd Monday of each March to hear taxpayer appeals of the state equalized values and/or taxable values which the Assessing Office has placed on their properties.

Corridor Improvement Authority

This Board meets monthly and coordinates the improvement and redevelopment of the designated commercial corridor through the use of tax increment financing.

Economic Development Corporation/Brownfield Author

The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) provides a for the City to use to revitalize brownfields which are abandoned, undeveloped, or underutilized properties not being developed or fully utilized due to environmental contamination.

The Elected Officials Compensation Commission sets salaries for city elected officials.

Ethnic Community Committee

The Historical Commission promotes an awareness of the community's heritage, identifies local preservation concerns, attends workshops and seminars relating to preservation management, studies public policies designed to protect and preserve local history, provide opportunities for residents to share and shape their historical legacy.

Water System Advisory Council

The Water System Advisory Council was established in accordance with the MDEQ administrative rules to develop plans for continuing public awareness about lead in drinking water, advise on the replacement of private lead service lines, and collaborate with community groups in educating the public about lead in drinking water.

Youth Advisory Board

The Youth Advisory Board will serve to promote youth involvement in local government, increase civic engagement among youth, assist in development of new youth programs, and advise City Council and City Administration on youth and teen issues.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and acts upon appeals on various zoning matters related to the development and use of land in the City and to provide ordinance interpretation.
