Youth Summer Reading

The Youth program is divided into three similar groups: Listeners, Readers, and Special Needs. Each group has slightly different goals, but otherwise work in exactly the same way.

Prizes & Participation

A Universe of StoriesStarting June 17, go to the Youth Services desk to pick up a pack of goals for the entire summer. Every week of summer reading has its own sheet. Once you complete a goal, mark it off on the sheet. You may earn prizes by completing at least one horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row. Once you are done, go to the Youth Services desk to get your sheet stamped. Finishing at least one row earns you a weekly prize! You may collect up to three weeks worth of prizes at a time.

For every row you complete (up to three), you also earn an entry ticket for one of several grand prizes. You can enter all your tickets in one prize or spread them out. It’s up to you! The grand prize winners will be announced at the Summer Reading Party.

If all six weeks have been completed, you also earn a finisher’s prize! Finishers will receive a small package of goodies. The last day to collect any prize is Saturday, Aug. 10. See us before then!

Summer Reading Party

Our family-friendly party takes place on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dodge Park Farmers Market Pavilion. Our main event is a petting zoo with goats, sheep, ducks, rabbits, and more! We’ll also have a magic show, crafts, and other fun activities. In addition, grand prize winners can pick up their prizes. When picking up prizes, parents should offer some form of picture ID.
