The Sterling Heights Fire Department is looking for candidates to take part in the Civilian Fire Academy beginning this fall. This is an opportunity for residents to get an inside look at the operation of the Sterling Heights Fire Department and get a taste of what it is like to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. Due to the hands-on nature of the program, the class size is limited and applications must be submitted for consideration.
The program will run for five weeks, on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning September 5, 2019. At the conclusion of the academy, there will be a graduation ceremony at the Fire Department.
This program will have some components that will be physically demanding, yet safety of the participants will be a primary focus. It is important that interested candidates keep this in mind.

Vehicle extrication Fire hose use Search and rescue Fire extinguishers Ground ladder use Department operations EMS delivery
