Hiring Process

The City of Sterling Heights finds the most qualified person for each available job through a competitive testing process. Our hiring process is highly structured so that the system is impartial to all applicants. Once you have identified a position for which you are interested and qualified, you may apply online or you may obtain an employment application at the Human Resources Office. It is important to read each announcement carefully before you apply as the requirements may vary from position to position.

When filling out your application, you must identify the position for which you are applying. Before submitting your application, ensure that all requested information is provided even if you include a resume. Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified.
