Sterling Heights to receive donation of K9 Rich at A Hero Remembered Never Dies veteran fundraiser

The City of Sterling Heights will be presented with the donation of K9 Rich to the Sterling Heights Police Department at the A Hero Remembered Never Dies fundraiser on Dec. 6 hosted by Prevention Concepts & Solutions.

This event recognizes and honors the service and sacrifice of veterans and first responders, including K9 officers.

The donation of K9 Rich will bring the Sterling Heights Police Department to a total of four K9 officers. Late Retired Officer Rich Heins became a K9 handler in 1996, a post he held until he retired in 2019. Officer Heins helped grow our K9 program to extraordinary heights and trained not only the City’s other K9 handlers, but the handlers of multiple other jurisdictions as well.

Prevention Concepts & Solutions provides substance abuse, mental health and trauma-related services and support to veterans, first responders and others in the community through alternative and unique programs designed to rebuild communities.
