Due to recent surge in COVID-19 cases in our community, the Dec. 1, 2020 regular meeting of the Sterling Heights City Council, and all regular City Council meetings for the remainder of 2020, will be conducted by video conference starting at 7 pm.
Holding council meetings in this fashion is in accordance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act, as amended on Oct. 16, 2020. Holding the meeting via video conference is intended to promote the health and safety of the members of the public, City Staff and the City Council, which is the goal expressed in the order issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Oct. 29, 2020.
There are multiple ways the public can view, listen, and participate in this public meeting:
- Comcast Channel 5 (Viewing)
- WOW Channel 10 (Viewing)
- AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 (Viewing)
- YouTube live stream (Viewing at www.sterling-heights.net/shtvlive)

Anyone from the public participating by Zoom teleconference will be placed on hold in a virtual “waiting room” until the meeting starts at 7 pm and will be muted during the business portion of the agenda.
Under Communication from Citizens, those participating by Zoom teleconference will have the opportunity to address City Council with comments and questions regarding any item germane to City business, including any agenda item the City Council has taken action on during the business portion of the meeting agenda. Each participant will be recognized first by the Mayor using the last four digits of their phone number and then afforded not more than four minutes to speak.
Council agendas can be found in advance on the City’s website by clicking on government, then city council and scrolling down to agendas and minutes. Residents may also email any questions they may have on any agenda item to the City at cityhall@sterling-heights.net.
