After fifteen months of restrictions and safety guidelines, the city of Sterling Heights announces majority of COVID related rules now eliminated per guidance from MDHHS and MOSHA.
Effective today, June 28 the City of Sterling Heights will no longer require masks be worn in our buildings by staff or patrons, regardless of vaccination status.
In addition to the lifted restrictions, the City will also be lifting capacity limitations and pre-registration requirements for most classes and programs. As of Tuesday, July 6, the Splash Pad will expand to include non-residents on Mondays from noon-4 p.m. and Tuesdays-Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Because some programs, services and residency regulations are being phased in over the next several weeks, residents and visitors are encouraged to visit sterling-heights.net or call Community Relations at (586) 446-2470 for current updates to facilities and offerings.
As of July 6, all City buildings will be open for resident business from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2-5 p.m. The City still provides most services online so residents can take care of their City business from the comfort of their home. “I can’t state enough how thankful we are for everyone’s patience as we navigated what was truly an unprecedented time,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor. “Even though none of us were thrilled with the restrictions that came along with the pandemic, our community really came together for the good of the whole. It was a huge help in protecting everyone, and we are grateful. Now it’s time to get back to the Sterling Heights we remember and love.”
