[ARCHIVED] City, Chamber seeking nominations for Sterling Edge Business Awards

The city of Sterling Heights and the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry are seeking nominations for the fifth-annual Michigan Week Business Expo & Sterling Edge Awards Luncheon recognizing outstanding businesses in Sterling Heights

Nomination applications, due Tuesday, March 15, can be submitted online at shrcci.com or sterling-heights.net. The Sterling Edge awards seek to recognize Sterling Heights area companies that have demonstrated best business practices that can be adopted and emulated by other businesses.

For this year’s awards, the City and Chamber are hosting an open nomination process with the option to suggest an award title and recipient. Any outstanding Sterling Heights business, whether an inspiring start-up, a long-standing corporate entity, a great place to work or other, is eligible to win one of this year’s five awards. Nominators are able to suggest an award category title; past award categories include:

- Legacy Partner of the Year
- Advanced Manufacturing Business of the Year
- Local Business of the Year
- Community Re-investment Business of the Year
- Macomb-OU Incubator Business of the Year
- Dream Big Company of the Year
- Blue Ribbon Company of the Year
- Green Company of the Year
- Best Place to Work
The awards will be presented at the Michigan Week Business Expo & Sterling Edge Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 18. The event will be held at the Wyndham Garden Sterling Heights (formerly Sterling Inn), 34911 Van Dyke Ave., Sterling Heights. Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor and Chamber President Wayne Oehmke will present the awards to this year’s winners.

Last year’s winners included Dodge Park Coney Island (Local Business of the Year), Penna’s (Legacy Partner of the Year), Fitzpatrick Manufacturing (Advanced Manufacturing Business of the Year), Gallo Companies (Community Re-investment Business of the Year) and Colliant Corporation (Macomb-OU Incubator Business of the Year).
