The City of Sterling Heights is pleased to announce it officially launched its new website as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
The new site is host to a cleaner, more intuitive layout, an attractive design featuring the city’s new logo and slogan as well as pages organized in a thoughtful, more functional way. With the new website, the City of Sterling Heights will be able to increase community engagement and enhance communication between citizens and their local government.
“The new website is not only home to top-of-the-line digital amenities for our citizens, it’s also a more attractive marketing tool for prospective residents,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “The redesign of our website is an initiative born out of the 2030 Visioning Plan — the city’s roadmap for preparing and planning for the next 15 years. I am proud of our new site, as I know it’s a useful information tool for our residents.”
City staff spent the last eight months working with web development business CivicPlus to sort, sift-through and prioritize the content of the current website and transition it over to the new site. The new site, which is still hosted at www.sterling-heights.net, is now also available by going to www.sterlingheightsmi.gov.
“The new website makes finding basic information and doing business with the City of Sterling Heights easier for all,” said Community Relations Director Bridget Doyle.
Sterling Heights citizens can now reach the city in new ways through some of the new featured modules, such as:
• Notify Me: Residents can sign up for email alerts when a new agenda, calendar item or news story is posted.
• ePay: Pay a bill online through the city’s website.
• News Flash: Read the most up-to-date City of Sterling Heights news via press releases and announcements.
• Request Tracker: Submit a request through the city’s website and receive email confirmation of the request. Residents can also receive updates on the request if applicable.
• Employment: Apply for a job through the city’s website.
For the next 30 days, the website will be under a “review period” where citizens and staff can use and navigate the new site and suggest changes. While the design of the site is set, the location of pages and accessibility of the most-clicked or searched-for items can be moved to prominent positions. Those with input can email their thoughts to cityhall@sterling-heights.net with the subject line “Website Input.”
Sterling Heights Television created an information video to help residents understand the basics of the new website. The video can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/4R9htta3nwI.
