SHPD's new CORE Program to host informational session, meet-and-greet on Tuesday, March 7

The Sterling Heights Police Department, in conjunction with the Community Relations Department, will host its first public informational session and meet-and-greet forum from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 at the Senior Center, 40200 Utica Road.

CORE, an acronym for “Community Outreach and Engagement,” was created earlier this year and is aimed at building stronger police-community relations. The program gives each of the six patrol area districts of the City its own SHPD Officer assigned to serve as a resource to residents of the region. Residents with questions or concerns in their neighborhood can call or email their assigned officer and have a one-on-one conversation rather than calling the main non-emergency line.

At the March 7 meeting, SHPD Police Chief John Berg and Community Relations Director Bridget Kozlowski will explain the program, share its goals goals and introduce the six officers. Following the brief presentation, resident attendees will have an opportunity to meet their assigned office and ask any questions.

The CORE program uses the SHPD existing area district map and divides the City into six boundaries: Adam, Baker, Charlie, David, Edward and Frank (see attached). Each area district is assigned an officer that will be the region’s advocate and neighborhood expert. These six officers will work to not only make meaningful relationships, but identify and report potential crime trends or neighborhood issues to SHPD leadership.

The six Police Officers assigned to the program include Officer Robert Wojciechowski (Adam), Officer Lamar Kashat (Baker), Officer Eric Le Roux (Charlie), Officer Guy Lynn (David), Officer Kirk Swenson (Edward) and Officer Anthony Roeske (Frank).
