[ARCHIVED] March is Reading Month

March is Reading Month - City.jpg

The library is celebrating March is Reading Month with several programs and contests! Take a look at what we're up to:

Bookmark Drawing Competition
Do you have a flair for art? If so, show off your skills in a bookmark drawing competition! Contest sheets will be available in the library throughout the entire month of March. To participate, fill out the sheet and submit an original artwork with the theme, “Build a Better World” by Friday, Mar. 31. The winners of the competition will earn a small prize and have their bookmark printed and distributed throughout the entire library! All ages are welcome to participate!

Dr. Seuss Reading Contest

Children are invited to participate in a library-wide reading contest this March! Swing into the Youth Services section to grab a special reading bookmark. After completing a book, write down the title on the bookmark. Once you have finished ten books, turn in the bookmark to enter for your chance to win one of several fun Dr. Seuss-themed prizes!

Library March Madness
Join us as 16 books face off in a fierce competition! Teens are invited to create March Madness style brackets based on how popular they think the books might be. Votes will be tallied and the teens with the closest bracket win a prize!

Michigan Reads
Michigan Reads! is a One State, One Book program sponsored by the Library of Michigan. 2017’s title is Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum by Lisa Wheeler. Several copies of the book will be available for checkout and one in-house copy will be on hand while you’re visiting the library. Also, join us for a special Storytime and Toddler Time on Tuesday, March 7 featuring this lovely story about a toad getting stuck in bubble gum!
