[ARCHIVED] City encourages residents to take advantage of on-demand lawn services this spring with LawnGuru

With spring upon Sterling Heights, the City is reminding residents they can take advantage of on-demand lawn cutting to effortlessly keep their properties pristine throughout the warmer months.

Michigan-based LawnGuru allows users to summon a certified contractor, pay for requested services via credit card and receive a receipt of follow-up, all from the convenience of a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.

In fall 2016, the City announced an innovative new partnership with LawnGuru to provide on-demand lawn cutting and snow removal for residents. According to Brandon Bertrang, LawnGuru Co-Founder, LawnGuru services about 8,000 weekly customers in Metro Detroit. Bertrang said more than 800 customers are signed up for the service in Sterling Heights.

Although most LawnGuru customers book reoccurring service for lawn care, Bertrang said, the service is especially useful for residents who know they’ll be on vacation or unable to tend to their lawn for a period of time.  LawnGuru is also helpful to senior citizens or those with physical limitations who many not be able to mow their lawn on a regular basis.

“LawnGuru users can book one-time on-demand lawn care — or a reoccurring service that they are able to pause or skip at anytime,” Bertrang said. “If the grass isn’t growing, users can absolutely ‘skip’ a week very easily through our app. It’s like a remote control for your lawn.”

Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor said he’s glad the City is continuing to work with an on-demand lawn care provider to offer service in Sterling Heights.

“We know lawn maintenance is essential in not only preserving property values but also making sure the city looks great,” Taylor said. “Sterling Heights continues to lead the region in embracing technology, and I’m glad we can partner with a Michigan-based company to give our residents options for lawn care.”

Sterling Heights lawn mowing contractors are also encouraged to join LawnGuru as certified providers to supplement their current customer base and work orders.

Bertrang said LawnGuru is happy to welcome back Sterling Heights customers, and any new user who signs up for LawnGuru over the phone receives $15 off their first order. LawnGuru’s phone number is (855) 807-8974 and their website is www.lawnguru.co.
