The City of Sterling Heights is partnering with St. Blasé Catholic Church to coordinate a donation drive for those affected by the Sterling Knolls Apartment Complex Fire that took place on May 17.
The fire affected 16 apartment units, displacing the residents who lived there and leaving them with very few personal items in the mean time. The Fire Marshal has placed preliminary loss estimates at $1.5 million. St. Blasé, a parish located adjacent to Sterling Knolls, has volunteered to serve as a collection site for those interested in donating.
St. Blasé will be collecting items such as gift cards, monetary donations, clothing and personal items to be distributed to the families affected from Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 28 at their Main Office, located at 12151 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Donations can be dropped off during parish open hours, which are: Monday to Thursday - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Anyone with questions can contact St. Blasé at (586) 268-2244 or the City of Sterling Heights’ Community Relations Department at (586) 446-2470.
