In a recent analysis by national economic modeling firm Emsi, data reveals Sterling Heights is not only continuing to grow in both population and career opportunities, it is also leading the region in engineering job growth. Data from the report showed Sterling Heights-area businesses and industry generated nearly $12.2 billion in gross regional product (GRP) in 2016.
The Emsi report, released at the City Council meeting on Oct. 3, revealed important data about Sterling Heights’ population, job opportunities, industry growth and more. The most recent data gathered on the city’s workforce showed Sterling Heights has five-times more engineers per capita than other comparable cities nationally, earning on average $90,413. The report also revealed the average earning of the city’s 65,000+ jobs is $67,625, or more than $8,000 than the state average.
