The City of Sterling Heights will be conducting a survey of its residents in the next few weeks.
The goal of the survey is to gain statistically valid responses by residents regarding their level of satisfaction with core city services and critical feedback on future planning initiatives. The City has engaged Kansas-based ETC Institute, a national leader in survey research, to complete the residential survey. The City administered its last residential survey in 2012.
Approximately 5,000 Sterling Heights households will be randomly selected to participate in the survey. This quantity of households assures that there will be an adequate response rate to make the survey statistically valid. For those households selected to participate, there will be multiple ways to respond to the survey, including by mail, online, or phone. To assist residents in responding, the phone option includes assistance in Spanish or Arabic. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the survey. All personal information will remain confidential.
Even if not randomly selected, the City is affording all of its residents the opportunity to respond to the survey on-line at www.sterling-heights.net/survey. Online responses will accepted from Dec. 5 through Jan. 10. Although these responses will not be tallied as part of the statistically valid survey, the City values all input.
“A residential survey is an incredible planning tool that has served the City well over the years,” said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “Not only will we be able to assess the use of City services and programs, but how well those services and programs are being delivered. Residents will also be able to give direct feedback on future priorities, which is critical information for the City Council as policy makers.”
The survey results will be compiled and presented to the City Council at the Jan. 23 Strategic Planning meeting, which is open to the public. The results will then be posted on the City’s website for viewing.
