The City of Sterling Heights City Council, Administration and staff are taking time to remember former City Manager Leonard Hendricks, who passed away on April 11.
Hendricks, 94, served as Sterling Heights City Manager from August 1968 to June 1974, and again from January 1976 to January 1982. Earlier this year, in January, the City of Sterling Heights held a reception for all former elected officials and city managers before a City Council meeting. Hendricks was present and honored at the event.
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of Leonard Hendricks, as he had incredible influence on the formative years of the City of Sterling Heights,” said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “I am grateful we had an opportunity to see him at the City’s 50th Anniversary reception in January and thank him for his service. On behalf of the entire City Council and City staff, we offer our condolences to his family and friends.”
In his career working in municipal government, Hendricks also served as City Manager for Clawson and Auburn Hills. He was an active member of the Earl F. Baker Investment Club for 64 years. His full obituary can be found at www.modetzfuneralhomes.com.

- Funeral: 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, St. Basil Byzantine Catholic Church (4700 Metro Parkway Sterling Heights, Ml 48310). Luncheon to follow.
