Registration for this program follows special rules. Registration for all the sessions in a series will begin two weeks before the first session.   6. Puzzle Competition

    Swing into the library for an all-ages puzzle competition! Groups of 2-4 members will tackle a 750-piece puzzle alongside rival puzzlers. Individuals are welcome to attend, but will be assigned to a group. The competition will begin at 10 a.m. and have a short lunch break at 11:30 a.m. Free snacks, lunch, and drinks will be provided for all participants. The top three teams that finish, or are closest to finishing at 1 p.m., will win special prizes!

  7. Cemetery Walk

    October 19, 2019, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Sterling Heights Public Library - Programming Center

    Register through Parks & Recreation by calling 586-446-2700. The cost is $5 per person. Ages 13 and up can step back in time for a haunting visit to Sterling Grove Cemetery. Hear about the 19th century community of Sterling Township pioneers who now reside in this quaint final resting place. A guided walking tour includes a brief history of the cemetery, its features, and a glimpse at the lives of some of those long-gone early settlers. The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. When this special outing concludes, return to the library for donuts and cider. Busses will depart from the library for three tours starting at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. Please dress for the weather and wear suitable shoes for walking and standing. There are no seats or restrooms at the site. Furthermore, 6 p.m. tour attendees should bring a flashlight. IMPORTANT NOTE: If it rains on Oct. 19, tours will be conducted on Oct. 26. By registering, participants agree to both dates, as there are no refunds.

The library is teaming up with Beaumont Health to bring you the Diabetes Prevention Program, a research-based approach to preventing Type 2 diabetes. The program focuses on lifestyle changes related to healthy eating, physical activity, problem solving, and coping skills. The Diabetes Prevention Program has been proven to be twice as effective as medication alone at preventing Type 2 diabetes. Join us for weekly sessions throughout the summer followed by monthly maintenance sessions in the fall.
