    Do you have a phone, tablet, or computer that you have trouble using? If so, sign up for 30-minute sessions of one-on-one help with whatever device you own. This program is open-ended. You bring the questions, we supply the answers! The questions can be as basic as using email on your phone to as complex as creating formulas in Microsoft Excel. Registration for this program follows special rules. Registration for all the sessions in a series will begin two weeks before the first session. You may only sign up for one 30-minute session per series. Please see the schedule for exact dates. Registration begins Sept. 3 for these sessions: Monday, Sept. 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

  7. Diabetes Prevention Program

    Registration is required and must go through Beaumont Health. Go to Beaumont.org/classes-events or call (800) 633-7377. The library is teaming up with Beaumont Health to bring you the Diabetes Prevention Program, a research-based approach to preventing Type 2 diabetes. The program focuses on lifestyle changes related to healthy eating, physical activity, problem solving, and coping skills. The Diabetes Prevention Program has been proven to be twice as effective as medication alone at preventing Type 2 diabetes. Join us for weekly sessions throughout the summer followed by monthly maintenance sessions in the fall.

    Stop by the Farmers Market between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to climb into the rigs to touch the controls and get a bird's-eye view of the road from some giant service trucks. This is a free event and open to all children and people of all ages. You will see salt trucks, sewer trucks, fire engines, police rescue trucks and more!     Elder abuse can truly happen to anyone. Research indicates that one in ten American elders are affected by some type of abuse. Unfortunately, abuse can happen in all types of relationships. Learn how to recognize high risk situations and various ways to get assistance. Attendees receive a free toolkit, snacks and giveaways.
